I’m struggling while reading Wide Sargasso Sea. I thought I shouldn’t give up reading it for I shall be a determined person and who knows, I might be in for a wonderful ending. But I am not particularly interested in Antoinette’s life, or her husband’s (I have yet to even find out his name). I did not understand any cultural or historical context mentioned. Or find any important underlying themes. Finishing the book for the sake of perseverance seems superficial and insulting to the author. Haha, does it even matter?
